WHAT IS SPRAVATO?

Spravato (esketamine) is a prescription nasal spray that is used to treat adults with treatment-resistant depression (TRD). Spravato an FDA approved therapy only when taken in conjunction with an oral antidepressant.

THE MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION I SHOULD KNOW ABOUT SPRAVATO

  • If you've tried two or more antidepressants and are still struggling with depressive symptoms, talk to your healthcare provider to see if you may have treatment-resistant depression.
  • You will be monitored for two hours after taking Spravato.
  • In a short- term study of adults with treatment-resistant depression, those who took Spravato and an oral antidepressant experienced a greater reduction in depressive symptoms at four weeks (compared to those who received a placebo and an oral antidepressant).
  • In a long-term study, following 16 weeks of therapy, patients who continued Spravato treatment were less likely to experience a return of depressive symptoms than those who discontinued therapy.
  • Spravato is not for use in place of hospitalization if your healthcare provider determines that hospitalization is needed, even if improvement is experienced after the first dose of Spravato

Spravato (esketamine) nasal spray can only be administered under the supervision of a healthcare provider at a treatment center that is certified in the Spravato Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) Program.
